SPECIALIZED S-Works Tarmac SL8 Satin Liquid Silver Frame

No bicycle is as fast as the Tarmac SL8 thanks to a combination of aerodynamics, lightness, and ride quality previously thought impossible. After eight generations and more than two decades of development, it’s not just the fastest Tarmac ever—it’s the fastest race bike in the world. Are your legs ready?

Aerodynamics or lightness alone don’t win races—what matters is speed. To achieve this speed, it’s necessary to create an uncompromising combination of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness, and compliance. Thanks to complex simulations using real-world data, our Ride Science Team has verified that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest race bike on any course: 16.6 seconds faster over 40 km on flat terrain, 128 seconds faster on the Milan–San Remo course, and 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet climb.

AERODYNAMICS: We apply aerodynamics where it matters most, and in the process, we’ve created our fastest road bike ever—yes, even more aerodynamic than the Venge. The front end has been optimized for maximum advantage. The fork steerer is positioned rearward relative to the front of the head tube, significantly reducing aerodynamic drag. Thanks to new UCI rules, with the SL8 we were able to use the narrowest and most aerodynamic seatpost we’ve ever made, ensuring that turbulent air around the legs flows more easily toward the rear of the bike.

LIGHTNESS: To create the Tarmac SL8 and achieve the most aerodynamic bike while meeting UCI minimum weight requirements, we drew inspiration from what we learned with the Aethos. The team developed a 685-gram frame, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other bike in the World Tour*. By focusing on maximum lightness in the down tube, seat tube, and rear of the bike, we applied the lessons learned from the Aethos project. The frame shapes respond so efficiently to loads that it was possible to reduce material thickness, eliminating excess.
*Except for that one time when Kasper Asgreen raced on our 585-gram Aethos frame during a Tour stage.

RIDE QUALITY: The stiffness-to-weight ratio of the Tarmac SL8 is 33% better than the SL7. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new benchmark for handling: precise in the most demanding situations and immediately responsive and efficient under pedaling input. While areas responsible for power transfer and steering precision are stiffer than ever, the SL8 is also more comfortable in the saddle, filtering 6% more road vibrations and allowing you to attack corners with a unique sense of agility and balance in the world of race bikes. The new Tarmac SL8 retains the proven geometry of the SL7, with the same generous clearance for 32 mm tires, enabling the use of higher-volume tires when needed.

BEYOND GENDER DIFFERENCES: In reality, there can be more differences between two male cyclists than between a man and a woman. We design for the individual, and our philosophy is simple: don’t create differences where none exist. Every rider, male or female, can benefit from the advantages of the Tarmac SL8. It’s time to move beyond.

The S-Works Tarmac SL8 frame, with a 68 mm threaded bottom bracket, is the perfect starting point to build the bike of your dreams.

“Apple Find My technology is now integrated into all S-Works and Pro 4iiii power meters. Every rider will finally have the peace of mind of always knowing the exact location of their bike.”
