THINK FASTER: The Epic World Cup is the fastest bike for XC racing on sliding routes, thanks to an unparalleled combination of efficiency, control and lightness. Champion Christopher put it this way: "This bike gives me everything I could want from a hardtail, plus the control and capabilities of a full-length." To create this race car we adopted a fully integrated development approach, inventing a completely new shock absorber, thanks also to four decades of victories on the stage of off-road races.
REFERENCE FRAME: To achieve maximum speed through perfect efficiency in power transfer, and ultra-precise driving, our engineering team has set the new standard in terms of torsional stiffness and bottom bracket. The double diamond layout is the most sophisticated in Specialized’s history, and supports the goal of stiffness by integrating the shock absorber as a structural element.
FAST SUSPENSIONS: The Specialized Ride Dynamics Team has developed a revolutionary technology for the Epic World Cup to give it the efficiency and responsiveness of a hardtail, and in addition the control and capability of a full-length. The SID Deluxe WCID (World Cup Integrated Design) rockshox shock with independently adjustable positive and negative air springs gives the Epic WC the coveted "snap" hardtail, combined with a lightness that devours the ground and provides the ability to adjust the set up according to a specific path or personal preferences.
BEYOND ITS OWN CATEGORY: The 75 mm of Epic World Cup travel behaves as if it were much more. When the bike is driven in firm mode, it offers the same positive excursion as a bicycle with 100 mm excursion set with a sag of 25%. The optimization of air volumes and damping characteristics, allows the Epic WC to handle bumps like a bike with more generous hiking. The MegaJounce dedicated pad provides robust end-of-stroke support to handle the most violent impacts.
BRAIN: While the revolutionary SID Deluxe WCID damper provides the perfect mix of absorption and firmness on the rear carriage, in the fork the BRAIN is alive and kicking, with Position-Sensitive technology and 15mm sag, no lock out or levers to operate.
LIGHTNESS: With a frame of only 1765 grams (painted, with shock absorber and small parts), the Epic World Cup is the lightest on the market. This lightness results in explosive accelerations, ascents with maximum efficiency, and surprising handling. The sum of these characteristics is speed. We were able to design such a lightweight and at the same time rigid frame thanks to what we learned in the design of the Aethos, in particular in reference to the lay up of carbon.
SEAT POST: The Epic World Cup comes with the new Roval Control SL seat post, ultralight and rigid.
The New Epic World Cup with Ride Dynamics Developed Suspension Technology has 75mm of Excursion On The Rear Wheel. Thanks to the New Technology the pedaling is very efficient and this Epic is ready for the most demanding descents.
