REFERENCE CHASSIS: To achieve maximum speed through perfect power transfer efficiency and ultra-precise driving, our engineering team has set the new standard in terms of torsional rigidity and bottom bracket. The double diamond layout is the most sophisticated in Specialized’s history, and supports the stiffness objective by integrating the shock as a structural element.
FAST SUSPENSION: The Specialized Ride Dynamics Team has developed a revolutionary technology for the Epic World Cup to give it the efficiency and responsiveness of a hardtail, and in addition the control and capacity of a full. The RockShox SID Deluxe WCID (World Cup Integrated Design) shock with independently adjustable air and negative springs gives the Epic WC the coveted "snap" hardtail bikes, combined with a light weight that eats the ground and provides the possibility to adjust the set up according to a specific route or personal preferences.
BEYOND ITS CATEGORY: The 75 mm excursion of the Epic World Cup behave as if they were much more. When the bike is driven in firm mode, it offers the same positive ride as a 100 mm ride bike set to 25% sag. The optimization of air volumes and damping characteristics, allows the Epic WC to handle shocks like a bike with more generous trips. The dedicated MegaJounce pad provides a robust end-of-stroke support to handle the most violent impacts.
BRAIN: While the revolutionary SID Deluxe WCID shock provides the perfect mix of absorption and firmness on the rear end, in the fork the BRAIN is alive and well, with Position-Sensitive technology and 15mm sag, without the need for lock out or levers to operate.
LIGHTNESS: With a frame of only 1765 grams (painted, with shock and minute parts), the Epic World Cup is the lightest on the market. This lightness translates into explosive accelerations, climbs with maximum efficiency, and a surprising handling. The sum of these characteristics is speed. We were able to design such a light and rigid frame thanks to what we have learned in the design of the Aethos, especially with regard to the lay up of carbon.
